The Wichita Falls Symphony Orchestra was established in 1947, and has operated continuously since then – the only symphony orchestra with a regular subscription season in a 110-mile radius. Over the years the Symphony has engaged world-renowned artists to perform with the orchestra, artists such as Yo -Yo Ma, Van Cliburn, the Gatlin Brothers, Richard Stolzman, Mark O’Connor and Ricky Skaggs, to name a few.

In 2002, two years after the Wichita Falls Symphony Orchestra Imaging (WFSO) had weathered its most challenging financial crisis – facing the possibility of closing its doors forever – Joe Prothro formulated a challenge for himself. Joe, the newly installed cheap nfl jerseys president of the WFSO board of directors, decided that before he left office as president, he wanted to have raised $1,000,000 for an endowment to benefit the Symphony. He quietly went about making calls to individuals and foundations to make donations to the endowment, but first his own family’s foundation made a pledge to the endowment, putting his own Fund words into action.

By year end, 2003, our first $100,000 was deposited into the endowment that had been established at the Wichita Falls Area Community Foundation.
